Just a few links from me:

I use Sophocles to format my screenplays (even though I write the first few drafts in Word).

If you use Word exclusively, you can use the BBC ScriptSmart Word templates for formatting.

Aiksaurus is a free thesaurus.

I like my old copy of "ScriptThing for Windows" ("Movie Magic Screenwriter) -- purchased on eBay. Very powerful and flexible program.

I have both Final Draft and Screenwriter (MovieMagic) because I bought the former and then a partner bought the latter and, when I write with my partner I use MM but I like FD better. Busy, busy.

(I wonder if this forum is going to get into a "FD is better!" "NO! MM is better!" argument. I hope not.)

It is all getting very exciting - I just downloaded this software 'DigiScript'.

have been researching 'The Writer's Journey' - and thinking about all the different types of character in a story. This is my first crack at this, so it will be fun - fortunately I have a half term during the second week, and if I am not moving, I will have plenty of time to make a satisfactory work...

Hooroo!!!

Has anyone tried Celtx? If you need a free screenplay program (not a template) it doesn't look too bad. Available at www.celtx.com. (I'm using my ScriptThing but, if I didn't have anything else, I would definitely take a look at Celtx.)

Good luck.

I just downloaded digiscript also. Sweet little template. I also have the trial version of Movie Magic, which I quite like the ability to shuffle the scenes. However, being so familiar with Word, it feels like I can get started more quickly, if not more ultimately nd flexibly, by this template. Coolness. Now I just need to refresh my memory on transitions and the difference between a pause and a beat. !

Is there a script or template available that works with WordPerfect? Mere language cannot describe how I loathe Word, but I suppose if I have to, I'll put a clothespin on my nose to block the stench...

Another sweet little program: text to voice --
no messy install, and a 20 day trial. The demo voice is a bit mechanical, but it DOES give you a sense of how your writing 'reads'. http://www.nextup.com/index.html

funners.
